Differnent decision making models

This week we learned about the G.R.E.A.T decision-making model. But there are different types of dicision making models. The first of which is the rational planning model. This model uses the process of realizing a problem, establishing and evaluating planning criteria, create alternatives, implementing alternatives, and monitoring progress of the alternatives. This model has takes a while to use insted of the G.R.E.A.T model. The first step is to verify the problem, then review all possible solutions, choose the best decision, put into process the prefered alternative, and then finally monitor the outcomes. This plan sounds alot like the G.R.E.A.T decision making model. The last model I am going to tell about is the D.A.R.E. decision making model. D.A.R.E stands for Drug Abuse Resistence Education. D.A.R.E also stands for Define, Assess, Respond, and Evaluate. First overview D.A.R.E. Second identify harmful effects of drugs to your body. Third review advertisments of drugs and alcohol and use D.A.R.E. Fourth review friendship qualities and use D.A.R.E. to respond to peer pressure. Fifth put it all together. Finally practice using D.A.R.E.

  2. I think the GREAT decision model is a nice model but the DARE one is better. YOu did a really good job by finding this model. It fits all the aspects of decision making into your life.

  3. I think that Lance did a really super job in finding his models, especially the DARE model because I can see a lot of kids at our school needed reference to this model, maybe even Lance.

  4. The Rational model does sound very much like the GREAT model we learned about. The Rational model you found sounds a little different from ones that I have seen on the internet. The one you posted "monitors the outcomes" which is good because it is a wise idea to review your decision to find out if it was the best choice. I think people are good to go with using either the GREAT model or the Rational model.

  5. Nice job Lance,
I forgot that the D.A.R.E. model was a decision making model, even though we've used it many times and gone over it in school. I think that the whole D.A.R.E. program is more about peer pressure and stress to do bad things, as opposed to the G.R.E.A.T. model, which seems applicable to almost anything that you need help solving.

  6. Lance, great job. I so remember that D.A.R.E decision making model from like 5th grade. That was real big when I was at Villa Elementary. It's especially good for teenagers since most of our decisions around theses times in our life are about drugs and alcohol. Very nice...

  7. good job lance,
You made good comparisons throughout your blog. I forgot about the D.A.R.E. model that we had in elementary school. You did a nice job finding these models.

  9. I think the D.A.R.E model is very clever, like... I dare you to make a good decision; hahahaha (that joke was awful:(). The model is short, sweet, and to the point. It makes alot sence and is easy to follow.
